A couple suggestions. Increase the height of the mill. Originally, the design was for a gentlemen who was crippled by polio, and the height carried through to the final plans. I'm just over 6' and it's workable, but not the best. I'd also replace the top bushings with pillow blocks, a lot easier to deal with.
