Fadal 4020 ATC turret Failure CCW only. Hi, I'm working on a Fadal VMC4020 with an 88HS control, AC axis motors. The problem the machine is having is that it will only rotate the tool carousel in clockwise direction. When it is instructed to turn CCW, it turns a very small amount, stops and shows ATC TURRET FAIlURE.

when it asks go to last home type n hit enter should get the command prompt. hit manual button screen should change to tool 1 in spindle and such. type M3S3500 hit enters, should get a waiting flashing on screen, hit one of the green buttons and the spindle should start. red spindle stop button will stop it.

Re: Fadal 4020 motor overload. Ok found the problem with the Y-axis. The previous owner had accidently pulled a cable to the controller card for the Y-axis, causing the alarm. So that was easy! With the Y-axis working we found the original problem, and probably the reason for all the cable pulling of the previous owner.

Hello. I got a good deal on a 92 Fadal 4020 (at least I thought it was a good deal at $400 to buy it and $1100 to rent a fork lift and put it in my shop). Re: 2000 Fadal 4020 Spindle Issues. OK, so I got some time to work on the Fadal today, and here's what I've found: The grounding is already as good as I can make it. It's grounded the same as my other VMC and it works just fine. Pretty sure that's not the issue. Rechecked the incoming voltage to the machine, all legs between 241 and 246.

For this reason Fadal never had a broken tool carousel. Youll never see a fadal with a broken carousel. Whether the tool is stuck in the spindle or halfway cocked in a tool pot it is easily removable. if its stuck in the taper the best lube is Elmers slideall which is a dry graphite/teflon based aerosol spray that works better than any other lube.

Re: 1993 Fadal VMC40 with x axis runaway. I called KMAC and they had suggested to ohm out the tachogenerator and I was looking for 40-60 ohms at various locations. I got anywhere from 48.8 to 50.0 ohms. I found some stock settings for the amplifier boards. I started from there and I was able to get the motor stationary.
